Update: 3 Days In Jail For Facebooking Juror

If the judge told you not to talk to the plaintiff or defendant or their lawyers, that includes Facebook friend requests.

Remember that juror who thought it would be a great idea to friend request the defendant at trial?  3 days in jail for contempt of court.  Rightfully so.  See the USA Today article here.  After a two hour hearing investigating the matter, the judge commented, “I cannot think of a more insidious threat to the erosion of democracy than citizens who do not care.” Onetime juror Jacob Jock didn’t improve his chances by showing up late to his hearing.
